The content is in the title: everything that is deliberate and catholic, and often even one without the other. Although, because of the nature of the blog, the deliberate things will often be along Catholic themes. Let's look at the word deliberate on it's own: it is defined as being
Done consciously and intentionally
• fully considered; not impulsive
• done or acting in a careful and unhurried way
The Catholic part is a little more straight forward. I must disclaim that I am no theologian and am not very far on my journey to understand everything there is to know about Catholic teaching. That being said, I am wholly obedient to Mother Church and the pope and the Magisterium. I strive to portray church teaching in the fullest of it's doctrine, but I am human and can still be prone to error. If I ever am, please let me know and I will correct my stance. On the same note, I am also open to any discussion over what the Church teaches. As Archbishops Sheen once said, and I paraphrase slightly, there are not 100 people in the world who hate the Catholic Church, but only what they understand the Catholic Church to be. That being said, even though I may not fully understand what or why the Church teaches what it does in some areas, I understood she is safeguarded by the Holy Spirit to teach free of error. It's probably not the teaching that needs changed, but how it is presented. Let's be deliberate in saying what we mean and meaning what we say.
I myself and Catholic, and could not imagine being anything else. I am a typical nerd who like chemistry, physics, theology and Star Wars. I have done some active ministry in the Church on a part-time basis but for now I am on hiatus to focus on some studying.
So, let's talk! I will be posting weekly and can be contacted via twitter (Search: Shaunrichter) or e-mail shaunrichter88@gmail.com.
Until we meet again...
